If the listing does not display nicely after a few moments, it may not be capable of presenting this listing properly. The books are notable for being at or near the beginning of the John Byrne run on the title. The actual issues included are: Action Comics 584, 590, 592-600 and Annual 1 includes 595.

Superman 9-19 and Annual 1 Adventures of Superman 431, 436, 444 and Annual 1 and a Superboy issue 38 for good measure (not by Byrne, but believe it or not, guest-starring Super man). I bought copies of all of these books when they were first published and immediately stored these away, almost all of which never opened, where they have been virtually undisturbed for the last three-and-a-half decades. When I got them out to take the photos, I was pleased with how well they had weathered the decades, many looking like they were just brought home from the comic store last week rather than 35+ years ago! Most look close to new still.

All 4 Adventures of Superman books looking very nice! The Superboy issue is the oldest and has some minor storage wear (seems like the only one I might have actually paged through). Wow, these Superman issues look mostly like they were just published.... A couple of the Action Comics have edges that show some minor storage wear, the 584. As it turns out, the Action Comics books are still looking virtually new, with only a couple of the ones with white backgrounds showing any faded edges. You can just make this out in the photos if you zoom in on them. The monster-sized, square-bound Action Comics #600 has a not-perfect spine and a tiny fleck of paper chipped off the top edge (very minor -- these square-bound books are so hard to keep in good shape). As I said, they aren't all pristine or anything, but by and large, these 35+ year-old copies do still mostly look new. I marked the lot as VF/NM, but be assured that the majority of them lean toward the NM category.

I don't really see a dud in the bunch. So if you want to see what all the fuss was about when John Byrne took over as main writer/artist of DC's flagship character, this is a great starter lot, particularly if you're after higher-end copies! And priced each at right around what new comic books cost today, are you really going to find a better deal?

Look at my feedback and you'll see "item as described" posted over and over again! Five and Under Comics (20+ years-old). Ten and Under Comics (20+ years-old). Ten Bucks or Less (20+ years-old).
